Fron Farm started offering space to campers and caravanners in 1962. Mrs Mattie Roberts, seen below holding the Shire horses, welcomed visitors to the farm. Visitors were offered milk, fresh from the bulk tank in the dairy as Fron was a dairy farm at that time. Farm fresh eggs were also available. This was such a novelty for the visitors. Having people stay at Fron also provided a much needed source of extra income. Campers and caravanners were welcomed by Mattie and her husband, Caerwyn, who really enjoyed chatting and swopping stories with people who were visiting from the cities. Mrs & Mrs Roberts made friends with many visitors and this gave them the opportunity to travel to visit friends in areas of the country that they would otherwise have no reason to go to. They visited friends in Scotland and Kent, to name just a couple, as a result of people coming to Fron Farm to stay with their caravans.
Today Fron Farm is run by Dylan & Ceri Roberts. Dylan is Mattie & Caerwyn’s son. Fron has expanded a lot and we now have a purpose built Reception and shop, two shower blocks, hard standing pitches and 40 privately holiday homes. Fron is still family run and the next generation work on the farm and in the shop.
